Success in Family History...that was easy!

So for those that know me, I'm not good at family history. I attend the temple fairly regularly, but have never taken a name that I personally found myself through familysearch.org. So my Bishop recently shared a story about how he never had found a name either until earlier this summer when he started and has since found 58 names to take to the temple. This inspired me so I got on familysearch.org and tried to see what I could find. It took me about 15 minutes and I found 6 names who's work had not been done in the temple. I reserved their names and printed off the ordinance request to take to the Denver, CO temple. After years of thinking this was really my mother's thing (and truly she has done a ton of work) I finally have done something. I'll post something later after I go to the temple to see if the experience is any different. I was amazed at how easy that was! So much for being too busy for family history work!

Because of Him

Because of Him.....Happy Easter!

This is the most awesome video! As many of you know, I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm so thankful for the reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the knowledge that I will live again. Enjoy the video!

So excited for this weekend!

This weekend I have the priviledge of baptizing my daughter Ashlyn! She is such a great blessing to our family. I really can't believe that she is 8 years old. That means I now have two children over the age of 8 and 5 children overall. Such a crazy thing. It feels like only a second ago I was on a mission in Japan and telling people about how awesome it will be to have my own family, and now I'm baptizing my second oldest child. So here are my thoughts about Ashlyn. She can be so sensitive and helpful and yet has this other side that reminds me of when she told me I was "ruining her life" for asking her to clean her room. She gives the greatest hugs and is so good with the other girls. I'm very worried about the future and guys being interested in her...I guess I don't really have to worry about that for a while (thankfully). I am very privledged to have the opportunity to exercise the priesthood and act in the name of Jesus Christ. I always look forward to them, but this one will be even more special! Here is a link to a beautiful picture of Ashlyn that we took in Raleigh, NC, just a week ago (I'll write about that trip later...it was awesome!) Anyone is welcome to attend. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152797776661542&set=pcb.10152797779126542&type=1.

So I'm starting a blog...

I've been thinking about doing this for a very long time. I thought this could be a good way to share my thoughts about life, my faith, and have a record of my adventures when I'm old and gone. My wife has historically been the blogger in our family and she's an expert when compared with me. I'm sure some day I'll make it look fancy, but for now it's mainly thoughts about various topics. So where does one start with a blog? How about an adventure with my two kids, Dylan and Ashlyn? I took Tuesday off from work and went skiing with them at Loveland Ski Area. We had such a great time! I was a really worried that it could have been a long day of stress and worry, but after three runs down they both had it down! Dylan was snowboarding and Ashlyn was skiing. I was very impressed. Honestly, I didn't do hardly any teaching. We had a great time. Ashlyn said, "that was the best day ever!" when we got in the car. These are days that make being a dad worth every moment of stress and heartache. I'm glad I took my wife's advice and did that.
